Monthly Virtual Meeting: Capt. Rick Rubel, U.S. Naval Academy

Captain Rick Rubel is Distinguished Military Professor of Ethics at the U.S. Naval Academy and comes highly recommended by the Parole Rotary Club! Please join via Zoom and invite a virtual friend!

Captain Rubel graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1972. In his Sea tours, he served in Guided Missile destroyers, in the in the Persian Gulf during Iran Crisis and Arab-Israeli War, and returned during Desert Storm Gulf War.

He had two commands, including Program Manager of the DDG-51 Class Destroyer Program, the largest program a in the Navy, $54 Billion.

In 2002, he was appointed to be the first Distinguished Military Professor of Ethics at the Naval Academy. Since that time he has served as the Course Director of the Core Ethics Course for 17 years.

In this capacity he has co-authored and co-edited the two text books and has published several articles in Journals and encyclopedias. His text books and class notes are also being used by all of the 72 NROTC universities in the country to teach their Ethics Course.

He is currently teaching seminars to the Navy Chaplain School, Navy Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG), Navy Supply School, Officer Candidate School (OCS), Command Leadership School, Navy SEALs.

He has written a book titled “ Getting to the Why” that is at the printer now about a program he developed call Character Development.

In connection with a small company in California, he has written 12 Children’s books on Moral and Character Development including activity books on character. His writings have been published in the National Schools of Character Education Partnership newsletters.
